Puerto Rico Memories “Puerto Rico Memories” is just what the title implies... memories from the three times I have visited the island. On my first trip, I stayed at a Bed and Breakfast near the downtown area of Ponce and that cat loved the patio area. I always had a camera ready to capture reference material for paintings and caught him just as he looked at me suspiciously. On another trip, I stayed at a camp on the west side of the island and the parrots, lizards, and hummingbirds were everywhere. My paintings are generally realistic but I enjoy adding abstract areas and lines to create energy and the suggestion of wind and flight. I paint with acrylics and almost always use bright colors, especially a painting of a tropical subject such as this. Every time I look at this painting I am drawn back to where I was and how I felt in Puerto Rico.
