A short statement of the proposed artwork's relationship to the theme of “Summer in the Sun 2" (150-500 words).: Emersion II is one of two paintings reflecting on the inseparable link between human and natural environmental forms. The figure and the environment are one energy, each thriving from and communicating with the other. Summer brings most of us outside where we celebrate nature and where we are emersed in and energized by the sun, rain, and wind that our minds and bodies experience. The many layers of glazed paint creates a depth you can sink into and the deeply scribed and impasto marks within the painting speak to scribbles in the sand or ripples in the ocean or perhaps drops of water on a spring surface.

A short statement of the proposed artwork's relationship to the theme of “Summer in the Sun 2" (150-500 words).: The ukulele is the sound of summer 365 days of the year. If you are in the cold of winter just close your eyes and strum a Uke and you are instantly transported on a warm tropical vacation! On the ukulele that I assembled I painted a sun melting into the water in a golden summer sky.
